Brief History

The Papua Study Center (PAPUA CENTER), commonly abbreviated as PACE, is an institute within the academic environment of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia, under the coordination of LP2SP FISIP UI, focusing on development discourse in Papua.

Founded on 9 April 2012, PACE became a formal research institute under Dean Decree of FISIP UI No. 188/H2.F9.D/HKP.02.04/2011. Its founding is expected to bring a new perspective to Papua's development, which has involved many parties both domestic and international. Amid the various issues and challenges in Papua, PACE is expected to play a more concrete role in solving those problems and to contribute significantly to building its own land.

Budhi Dharma, MPP

Budhi Dharma, commonly known as Budhi, is a Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of Social Welfare Studies. He has a strong interest in social welfare policy. His research interests include: social policy, social protection, microfinance, regional development, and youth issues. He has been extensively involved in research and activities with ministries, regional governments, and state-owned enterprises in policy-making, particularly in social welfare. He has been with Papua Center since PACE was founded in 2012. In 2019, based on a meeting of PACE founders and management, Budhi was entrusted as Executive Director of Papua Center (Papua Study Unit) LPPSP, University of Indonesia.
